Mummified Animals Revealed in Egypt
Posted on 29 December 2019
A new collection of mummified animals has been unveiled in Egypt, revealing some very rare and interesting creatures.
The mummified animals were found near the Step Pyramid of Djoser in Saqqara, which is south of the Egyptian capital of Cairo. The assortment includes two lion cubs, plus multiple crocodiles, birds and cats. While cats are relatively common finds, lions are much rarer. Along with the mummified animals, the collection includes a number of ancient statues and other artefacts. It’s believed these date back to 664-332 BC.
The collection is being displayed in an exhibition at the Step Pyramid, so if you’re lucky enough to be in Egypt right now, it might well be worth going to see it!
