Over 350 Million Plants Sown to Help Combat Climate Change
Posted on 3 August 2019
More than 350 million trees were planted in Ethiopia on Monday to help restore the landscape in the African nation.
The actions of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed aims to help restore the country's once-thriving landscape. Ethiopia's rapidly growing population has lead to more farmlands, excessive deforestation, and increased climate change. These results have left the country with less than four per cent of the land now forested.
Ethiopians will be breaking not one, but two world records as they launch a tree-planting campaign which intends to plant over 4 billion trees between May and October this year.
