Paris Zoo Unveils Living ‘blob’
Posted on 21 November 2019
A zoo in Paris has just revealed a very cool organism that isn’t a plant, mushroom or animal, but can still detect and eat food, learn, and heal itself.
Named the ‘blob’, the single-celled organism looks a lot like a yellow, slimy fungus. In fact, it’s technically a slime mould. But, it can do things like transmit information to other blobs like it, identify food sources, digest food, move around to try and find food, and heal itself in a matter of minutes. It also has almost 720 sexes.
The very curious organism will be on display at the Paris Zoological Park for anyone interested in viewing it!
